Snider .577 Cartridge for Review

I presume this is just a regular Snider .577 cartridge, what is the purpose of the black line on it? Thanking you all in advance and hoping to hear from some of you very soon.

Regards, juno-44

Juno; Your cartridge is a Snider Mark VI ball round, adopted in late 1868. The black band was to identify it as such. Nothing special, pretty common.

Hi Mel,

Thank you for your quick reply. What Mark is this one?

Regards, juno-44

Looks like a Dominion Cartridge Factory Canada second pattern ball ctg c1886-92.

Thank you to all.
