The last batch for the July 21 auction

#1

Here is the last batch that will make it to the Five Rivers Auction in New Hampshire. There will be a few more lots for the next auction, but probably not much after that.

This was a fun job. We don’t often get in much collector ammo, and I had a good time finding out what some of the weird stuff was. There is a bitthat I will probably bid on for myself, and I hope there is something you can use for your collection, too! Thanks again for those who helped me on a couple of things.

Approx 130 Rnds 30-06 Govt Ball Ammo in GI Ammo Can , Loose rounds in an M2 bandoleer marked can. The headstamps are almost all VC45. Mostly very good condition with a few with some light corrosion. 12-040-0115 S-20 (50-60)

Powder Actuated Tool Load Lot , This lot consists of two bags with 33 full and partial boxes of Rimfire tool loads. There are 2 boxes of 27 cal, 2 boxes of 25 cal, 23 boxes of 22 cal. There are Uniset, Ramset, Hilti, and Redhead among others. The boxes average about ¾ full, with some full and some with very few. These were part of a collector’s Rimfire collection. Overall condition is very good. 12-040-0061 S-20 (30-40)

1600 Rounds of 22 LR Ammo , This lot consists of one full brick of 500 rounds of Federal Lightning and 23 boxes (19 full, 4 partial) of various brands. There is also about 50 loose rounds of Remington plated RN in a bag. About 1600 rounds total. Very good to new condition. 12-040-0062 S-19 (50-60)

Mixed Military Ammo Lot , This lot consists of about 15 pounds of mixed military ammunition, including 33 rnds 7.62mm NATO, about 60 rnds 30-06 in strippers, en blocs, loose and linked, with some tracers, 40 rnds 30 carbine, 4 rnds 8mm Lebel in a machine gun clip, 3 rnds 7.52x54R in links, 10 rnds 7.65mm pistol, 45 rnds assorted caliber blanks, about 60 various 7mm Mauser and about 30 loose rounds of mixed calibers. This cannot be shipped to restricted/prohibited locations (CA, MA, NYC, Washington, DC, and a few others) because of the tracers. 12-040-0100 S-5 (50-70)

32 Caliber Rimfire Lot , This lot consist of 84 rounds of mixed copper case 32 Short and 32 Long Rimfire ammo with various headstamps. There is also one unmarked 38 RF and three older 22 RF. The overall condition is good, with some age whitening on the lead bullets. 12-040-0019 S-4 (50-60)

Thanks again for the lists.

Regarding:

Duplex Triplex & Frangible Ammo Lot , One scarce extended case neck(experimental) 30-06 black tip triplex round with WRA 56 headstamp. One 30-06 red tip triplex round with SUPER SPEED H/S headstamp, probably a prototype. Two rounds M198 7.62 NATO duplex, green tipped, with FA 56 headstamps (comes with description sheet). These have steel jackets, but are not armor piercing. The harder jackets were apparently used to keep the bullets from fusing together in the bore. One round 7.62 NATO green/white tipped frangible. All are in very good condition. 12-040-092 S-4 (50-60)

The M198 Duplex rounds are not steel jacketed. They have copper plated solid steel bullets. This information may be of interest to the auction house.

Thanks for that last bit. We posted it at the auction. Apparently they used copper plating to protect the surface and (somewhat) the bore, but used the steel to keep the indivdual bullets from fusing together in the barrel, if my reading up on this is correct.
