Turkish or French Nagant Box

#1

The 7.63 Mauser thread below with the Turkish box reminded me of this box that I have never really understood. I’d appreciate any info anyone can give me about it. Was this made in Turkey for Gevelot or made by Gevelot for Turkey? Time frame? Sorry for the quick and bad photos, I can maybe do better if there is interest. Thanks in advance.

Very Interesting that Gevelot used the Russian designation for 7.62 mm cartridges (three line) on the label. Don’t recall seeing that before.

I too always felt that it seemed an odd throwback. Thanks for the info guys.

Why throwback? The line-unit is directly connected to the inch-unit. The line was dropped in Russia long ago (1924) while the inch is pretty much alive in the US.

I think Hendere’s point was that it was a throwback in France and Turkey at the time these cartridges were made. Jack

Ah, thank you Jack! My English sometimes sucks.

When were these made?

Very cool! Great, something else I didn’t know I need for my collection.
