Umc .22 lr?

#1

I have this .22 LR headstamp down on my records as UMC. Is this correct?

#2

Is the case brass or coppor. If it is coppor it COULD be UMC. If it is brass it is Remington. It could be Remington if it is copper also.

#3

It is brass. It looks very old, as it is pretty corroded and it is quite thick brass by today’s standards.

#4

Falcon - UMC was merged with Remington in 1916. Remington continued to use UMC’s rimfire headstamp and still does. The brass casings were introduced long before WW2, and poor storage conditions can bring on corrosion in a far shorter period.

This is a fired case, and looks to have been dug out of the ground somewhere.
