Unidentified old cartridges (cases)

Hi !

I need help with some info / ID for few cartridge cases…Remington and…

Thank you !

1. Remington…?!?

2. …???

3. …???

Could these cases…be ‘related’ to the WW2…?!?

Appear to be 8mm Lebel. My eyes aren’t all that good.

hello, all 8x50R Lebel
Serg

the last one is not…its a 8x50R Austrian…the first ones are french socalled Lebel- Cartridges.
pp

#1 seems to be a 11mm Vickers (modified 11mm Gras).

IMHO:
top 8mm Lebel fire in Gras 11mm chamber.
3 8x50R austrian fired in 8mm Lebel chamber, note swelling of case above rim.

I think “orange” is spot on!

Cartridges fired in the wrong firearm.

Yes…most of them (these ones and few others) have this “swelling”… and the state of the 2nd one (many of them are ‘broken’…I mean…without the part…above the ‘neck’ towards the…bullet)… ! I wondered what is this “swelling”…a ‘special’ cartridge or…a ‘kind of’ misfiring…?!?

I wonder…what was/happened there…?!?

“8x50R Lebel” but…different producers…WHICH ones…?!?
I didn’t see until now these ‘kind of’ headstamps !

Possibilities:
Different units occupying the same area at different times, loaded ammo found left at the place…
In the heat of battle, grabbing something and shooting it, because you NEED to send rounds down range, and quick, no time to worry is it IS the right cartridge- “if it fit, it shoots”.

…In the heat of battle, grabbing something and shooting it…

U’r right !

It appears that…most of cartridges didn’t “fit” THAT rifle (the swellings and…) ! …
