Unknown projectile

50mm tall 15mm diameter I was thinking subcal spotter with tracer but any other ideas

#2

From the 14.5mm artillery sub calibre training round used by most NATO armies. It has a short aluminium case and the proj. gives a flash and puff of smoke on impact.

I can post pictures if required.

You’re right. It’s the 14.5 x 51 DAG artillery training projectile.

What modern US calibers is this subcal used in I found two of these projectiles on an old range that was suppose to be shut down in the early 50’s

The US are using these cartridges in the M31 Artillery Trainer which goes back to a German pre war development. The case got modified after the war and the training system is used widely in NATO countries while Czechia still used the pre war design (20mm case) which was left behind in 1944/45.

Here a box which I suspected so far to be for the US (made by DAG). It is dated 1976 and has a “Bemusterungs Los” which is some sort reference cartridge for acceptance tests. Any info on this box?
