Interesting MIL-STD, and thanks for posting it.
but could you consider that your title to this thread is not all-inclusive, if not misleading? While some of the defects certainly could occur in manufacturing, these types of defects are also often associated with the inspection of ammunition returned from units during training, exercises and actual combat use. The specifications shown in this standard would be used to inspect and categorize the returned ammunition, allowing some to be repacked, and eventually reissued. Just a thought.
