W.R.A.Co. 44 L

I have a brass .44 Cal. case, with a case length of 1.615" headstamped “W.R.A.Co. 44 L”. What do I have here?

Thanks in advance for any info.

You have a 44 Wesson Long.

Thanks Alex. Is this round also known as a .44 Extra Long Ballard? Was it a single shot rifle round?

According to Barnes the wesson long and the extra long Ballard differ only for their bullets shape, cases are almost identical

Thanks Pivi, the municion.org site listed a “.44 Wesson” and “.44 Extra long Ballard” as the same round. So what sort of rifle was this round intended for?
